al-floeterAl Floeter started playing trumpet in fifth grade, continuing through his high school years. While this ended his formal musical training, he kept playing occasionally in church and bands as it fit his schedule. In 2002, on the suggestion of a friend, he switched to euphonium and found new joy in playing this great brass instrument. He joined a few different area bands, including the Old Mapleton Circus Band, attempting to hone his skill with euphonium further. In 2005, he joined Milwaukee Festival Brass and immediately found a place to learn and grow in his musicality. Al’s real job is as a software engineer, a profession he has done since college graduation. His spare time is spent conducting an area handbell choir and church brass choir, and helping his wife, Valerie, with her music publishing business.
